Juanjo Sandoval — artist, official independent guide, and host.
Born in Barcelona and based in Cape Town, Juanjo’s practice brings together travel, material experimentation, and the landscapes of Southern Africa. His mixed-media works on canvas and wood use acrylic as a base with natural pigments, sands, and recycled elements gathered on the road. Many pieces are shaped directly by rain, sun, gravity, and the beach sand that often serves as a “natural easel.”
Beyond the studio, Juanjo guides private, small-group journeys across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe — connecting travelers with local environments and cultures. In Cape Town, he also hosts guests at a relaxed Tamboerskloof house a short walk from the city’s restaurants, galleries, and mountain trails.
This site brings those threads together: a living view of the work, the journeys that inform it, and a welcoming base for travelers in the city.
